Freiwilligendienst im brüsseler Europasekretariat der JEF

JEF-Europe is looking for two new European volunteers to join its Brussels office from March 2010 for a period of 12 months.

We will apply for the project grant (Action 2 of the Youth in Action programme) on 1 September 2009 deadline and if approved the volunteers could join the European Secretariat as of mid-March 2010. The project application will be prepared partly with the volunteers themselves in order to let them be part of the process from the start. If you wish to apply as volunteer you will need to make sure to find a sending organisation (e.g. your local/regional/national JEF section or other NGO who is accredited to send volunteers for EVS).

DEADLINE: Please send your application with a CV and one-page motivation letter to evs@jef.eu until 15 August 2009. You are a highly motivated young European and want to help raise European awareness? You enjoy working across borders in a European environment together with a young, motivated and international team? You like  eveloping your own projects and working independently? JEF Europe offers you all this in the framework of the Youth in Action programme.

Both volunteers will be based in the JEF Europe office in Brussels and explore ways of continuing our successful project Europe@myDesk. Together with international partners, they will organize various events promoting European awareness. Hereby, the volunteers will develop their organizational skills and experience the functioning of a  european Youth NGO like JEF: project management, website management, communication with national/local sections and members all over Europe. Also, we strongly encourage the volunteers to develop their own initiatives.

There are no formal requirements of the volunteers, but certain characteristics we believe would greatly contribute to the type of work the volunteer will undertake. Theferore we are looking for someone who: is enthusiastic and dedicated to the idea of European unification and supranational democracy, is experienced and interested in European politics, communication and the work of NGOs, speaks and writes English fluently. Other languages, especially French, Dutch and German are a strong asset, is eager to learn about and to actively participate in the life of JEF-Europe and its secretariat, works independently, takes initiative, is flexible and enjoys working in a young team
is able to easily adapt to a new environment, enjoys travelling and daily communication with other young people from all over Europe actively involves in and contributes to seminars and other activities taking place in various European countries, is well organized, has an eye for detail and is able to stick to deadlines,

EVS conditions:
European Voluntary Service is a programme offered by the European Commission’s Youth in Action Programme in order to facilitate intercultural exchange and civil society engagement. By the start of the project the European Volunteer must not be older than 30 years. The volunteer gets his/her living costs covered including pocket money and language classes.
